WEEE Scotland Ltd is proud to celebrate a major milestone in the journey toward fair work—Scotland now has 100 accredited Living Hours Employers. This achievement represents an important step forward in tackling underemployment and promoting job security across the country.
To mark the occasion, Business Development Director Lyndsay Stewart attended a roundtable discussion alongside Tom Arthur, Minister for Employment and Investment, and representatives from the Living Wage Foundation Scotland. The event, hosted by SMS Ltd, brought together a range of dedicated fair work advocates, including ACS (Advanced Clothing Solutions), Rowan Glen Limited, and CFINE ENTERPRISE LIMITED.
The roundtable focused on the challenges posed by insecure work and reinforced the wider meaning of fair employment practices—beyond wages, it’s about respect, opportunity, and stability for all workers.
Reflecting on the discussion, Lyndsay said: “As recent winners of the GBA Community Wealth Building Award and accredited real Living Wage and Living Hours employers, we have a clear ethos of creating fair work at WEEE Scotland. However, today’s round table discussion has been a great reminder of why we do what we do and I have come away feeling proud that we are doing the right things for our employees and motivated to continue encouraging other businesses to do the same.”
